UW professors stretched my brain cells beyond what I believed I could possibly accomplish anywhere else. More importantly . . . I learned that you never stop learning and working with others. This was/is important because my field, Home Economics, merged into the nursing program; thus, less in demand as a separate entity. Due to classes in Journalism, I wrote four books and am a contributing author in two additional books, all while in my 70s.

Presently, I am a volunteer hostess to senior citizens who dance twice a week. I attribute this to the UW instilling in me organizational skills, flamboyance and confidence to carry me throughout my adult life. - Donnajean Eddie Barton '58 & '68
