The UW is fertile land to grow. I came from a small high school and the "large, impersonal" UW campus was a chance to start fresh--no labels carried over from the 3rd grade, no comparisons to my successful brother, and no longer being defined by my family's (lack of) status. I sat in the Freshman chemistry class of 500 students and LOVED IT that no one knew my failings or my potential--and furthermore no one cared! I learned to care! I cared enough to make my own set of friends and set my own life goals. I made the UW campus just the right size for me, and when I was successful, the reward was all mine. The life lessons I learned at UW have helped me every day of my life. - Jean,"73"
