Many an evening I trudged down the cinder path on the Vista after a 5-hour geology lab class peering at thin sections of rocks. During the winter darkness would set in early and I would think about how fortunate I was to be a part of all this! Walking out of Roberts Hall after my last final I remember feeling exhilarated. I graduated December 1955. When I added up the cost of my 4 years at the UW, it was less than $1,000; the same amount the Wright brothers spent on their first successful manned, powered controlled Flight. (Of course, living at home minimized my expenses.) - Jay, 1955 BS Mining E
